Ring, Ring it's Monday again and we get to start with the sweet sound of music by relaxing at the sensational symphony. It was exhilarating to watch the instruments glisten in the light and listen to the melody. We also visited the book fair. Looking at the brand new books was like opening presents on you birthday. On Tuesday, we were able to buy a book, it was like picking out a present from the Toys R Us catalog. Whoopee!!! We had a great lunch of soft shelled tacos, they tasted like heaven on my tongue. Shelby made our day just a little bit tastier by blessing us with delicious, spectacular, mouth-watering cake, it made my taste buds go wild.

Urgent!! Urgent!! There was no school on Monday because it was Dr. Martin Luther King Juniors birthday. On the fantastic, exciting Tuesday we learned about Tell Me More. Tell Me More is when you have a topic and then, you write a little. Then, you write a paragraph and in the article you express it more and more. We had two contests to see who had the best piece of writing. Erica won the 1st contest of Tell Me More. For the 2nd Vanessa and Zach tied for the second contest. The winners got mini cans of pop for the best article. In Math we had a substitute teacher. In Social Studies we started a new chapter, along with Science. In Science we learned that matter is made up of elements and elements are made up of atoms. In an atom is a nucleus and in the nucleus are protons and neutrons and outside of the nucleus are electrons. On wonderful, fantabulous Wednesday we had another Tell Me More contest and Loren was the winner. Loren did not even expect it. In Math Mrs. Collier was back. At Social Studies we watched a movie that rocked. During Science we did a Study Guide. On marvelous, superior Thursday we did another Tell Me More, we did not have D.A.R.E. in Science. If Mrs.Hoge didn’t teach us about similes, metaphors, word burst, staccato, onomatopoeia, and alliteration I would be a terrible writer. On tremendous, unbelievable Friday we did some more Tell Me Mores, in Social Studies we watched a movie about the Cheyenne. Have a nice Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!

After that we started daily oral language and learned about similes. On Wednesday we had a sub named Mrs.Thompson, she was very nice. At ten we went to P.E. After we did our sentences which are nouns, pronouns, and verbs. At the end of the day we wrote our third paragraph of our D.A.R.E. essay about staying away from drugs. On TERRICFIC Thursday Mrs.Hoge came back from taking care of Carter. We had an English test, at the end of the day we had D.A.R.E., and then it was study hall time. Friday we had music and library. After library we started metaphors, it was fun. We compared Mrs.Hoge to a trampoline which was fun. Then we wrote our closing paragraph and our pledge to our D.A.R.E. essay. See ya!!!

On Monday the fifth grade got on the stage and we rehearsed for our music program. We had a spelling pre-test on Tuesday and two people got 100 percent. On Wednesday we rehearsed again but this time we had to do it in front of the entire fourth grade, that was scary. We had a tornado drill. Later that night we had our music program at 7:00 and it went very well our class had a couple of the soloists sing the songs. Friday is always a good day because it is the last day of the week and we get another chance at getting a 100 percent on the spelling test, five people got a 100 percent on the spelling test. See ya next week!!!

Yahoo, On Monday we technically had no school cause we didn’t do any work, that is because we went to Lake Storey for a field trip. We went around to different stations to learn about things like the GPS system, plants, trees, butterflies, animal skins, and fish. Our class went fishing and one boy caught 1 fish and that was the only fish caught in our entire class, the boy’s name is Trenton. We also got to touch animal skins and we used GPS systems. On Tuesday we started our music program called, I Need a Vacation, in music class. After that we watched 3 people do glass blowing and our class voted to watch them blow a glass flower but the first flower broke that the girl made so they did a multi-colored pumpkin and then one of the guys made a flower in like 1 minute, it was sweet. On Wednesday we started choir at 8:40 and at 9:00 we had our Junk Food Party, Jordan thought of it and Jordon also brought chips, Dalis brought pop, Alany brought Hershey bars, and Zach brought a whole lot, thanks guys. We had an assembly for a clock from a long time ago then we went to P.E. for like 7 minutes. At the end of the day we played quiet ball and 4 corners. On Thursday we had an interview about what we want to be when we get older by some high school student named Josh then we had Science at 10:00 and Social Studies at 10:30 and then Math at 11:00 (usually we have math at 11:15) then we went to lunch and had recess. We went to the park and had ice cream with Mrs. Andrews, because the kids who were good that month were rewarded. On Friday we got out early because of homecoming we got out at 1:15.

Work hard, Play hard!!!
Wow! We made it through a full week of school, with early dismissals, of course!!! Students in 5A are quickly learning the schedule and following the school rules. They have enjoyed getting Hoge dollars. These are earned individually when they are caught doing their job, have their planner filled out and signed, and read at home. We have also worked together as a team to earn stars. When the whole class is on task and following directions I put a star on the board. When they have received 10 stars they earn a letter which will spell the word PHENOMENAL and this week we spelled PHENOMENAL!!! That's right they were on task and following directions 100 times, we even received two compliments from teachers who couldn't believe how great our class was.
Reporter. His or her job is to take notes throughout the week
of exciting happenings and then write a short article about what took
place. Students can use a computer at home or one of the
classroom's computers. Students will type their articles and turn
them in to Mrs. Hoge. Students can e-mail them, or save them to a
floppy disc. This is a great way for students to get an
opportunity to write using technology, and publish their work on the
internet.
